Biogas

Biogas Test Plant (introduced in April, 2002) |
In the food industry, there are many wastes such as those of Azuki Yokan jellies with high sugar content and ice cream with high water content that are not suitable for use as compost or feed. They can be used for biogas generation to thereby improve the effective use ratio of food resource and the recycling efficiency. Methane gas (biogas) generated from food wastes can be used as clean energy such as steam and electricity, the post-fermentation liquid can be used as liquid fertilizer, and the fermentation residue as compost.
There are many types of liquid food wastes; waste from Mizuyokan jelly is high in sugar content and that of ice cream is high in milk fat content, making their constituent ratio of biogas (methane: CO2) different. We hope to establish the biogas generation technology by repeating tests.
